Social Media Policy (Attig Law Firm)

The Attig Law Firm Social Media Policy.

The Normal Human Version.

1. On Social Media platforms, we are going to engage in normal conversations about a full arrange of topics that affect Veterans, and Veterans in our communities.

2. We don't give out legal advice on Social Media platforms.  Our information is meant to educate and inform - NOT ADVISE.

3.  Do you want advice from the Attig Law Firm?  Fill out a consultation request form and we'll contact you directly.

The Legalese (not quite as long as the iPhone Terms & Conditions Agreement, but WAY more important - please read it all the way through).

1. Social Media, for the purposes of this The Attig Law Firm Social Media Policy, includes all of the following, and all like the following: the Veterans Law Blog, Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn, YouTube, GumRoad, Avvo, HootSuite, Pinterest, etc., et al.

2. The Attig Law Firm - the ALF -  DOES NOT use social media (Blog, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc.) to market or advertise legal representational services to potential clients. WE DO NOT USE OUR SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS TO SOLICIT EMPLOYMENT.

3. By telling you to contact us through our website consultation request form, we are not soliciting employment.   We are telling you how to ring our doorbell to see if we are in the office.

4. Nothing we do on Social Media is meant to bring in "new clients" or "new business".

5. Following or liking us on a Social Media Platform does not make you our client or us your attorney. The ALF only enters an attorney-client relationship - in writing - after a thorough review of a Veteran or Survivor's Claims File and the facts/law of that Veteran/Survivor's specific and unique appeal.

6. The ALF does not give legal advice through social media.  Don't ask for it - we won't give it.  Sometimes we might refer you to our consultation page, or another attorney.  But mostly you can expect us to ignore requests for legal advice.  We are on Social Media to talk about the issues affecting Veterans - and Civilians.  We’re not there to give you legal advice.

7. There is no substitute for legal advice from an accredited Veterans Benefits Attorney (whether its us or some other attorney). Have a question about your case?  Get the heck off Facebook and Twitter and call an accredited Veterans Benefits Attorney.

8. Just because we follow or like a person, entity, business or organization does not mean we endorse their work or products, opinions, attitudes, beliefs, comments or actions.   We follow other people and entities on Social Media because we want to hear what they are saying - whether we agree with or not.

9. Just because someone follows us or likes us, doesn’t mean we endorse them, agree with their viewpoint, or otherwise endorse their thoughts and opinions.   Social Media is a conversation.  We follow and like other users because we want to HEAR what they have to say.

10. The ALF is NOT using Social Media to market or advertise its legal representation services.  If I wanted more clients, the LAST place I would go is Social Media.  If I wanted to get rich, I'd run for Congress.

11. The ALF has a bigger Vision, and a Bigger Purpose.  I want to change the way YOU experience the VA Claims Process, and I'm going to do it by giving More Information and More Power in More Ways to More Veterans navigating the VA Claims Process.

12. Our posts and information on Social media platforms are meant to describe general situations and experiences only.  If you think that our posts are telling you what you can recover from the VA, then you are not being reasonable.  We do not intend to create any expectation of any results from the VA - not only is the VA a fickle beast that is unpredictable, but nobody can predict or guarantee results.

13. Our social media posts, conversations, comments, etc., are not  advertisements for any legal representational services.

14. The material/opinions on ALF Social Media platforms are the opinions of the poster, and do not purport to represent the positions, strategies or opinions of the ALF.

15. If you PM us on Facebook, Direct Message us on Twitter, or contact us in any other way asking about your case or legal advice, we may not answer.  Why not?  Social Media isn't the place for those discussions. Pick up the phone and call, or shoot an email to our Team.

16. You don't get "special treatment" if you engage with us on Social Media.  You don't get special treatment if you purchase eBooks.  The only people that get "special treatment" are homeless Veterans in the DFW Metroplex - we'll move heaven and earth for those folks. Other than that, everyone gets treated the same.

17.  If you make rude, disparaging or insulting comments, we're going to hide your posts, comments, tweets, etc. If they are real bad, we may block you.  And, I'm not the word police, but there are a few words I hate, and I will jump on you if you use them.  Be vocal, be opinionated, but don't be an ass.
